From Times reporter Carmen McCollum: In Griffith, the new clerk-treasurer is Bill Broderick. He ran against another newcomer John Volkmann. He's excited about the challenge and says he's "on top of the world."
Former Griffith council woman Pat Schaadt, 85, won election over Michael Gully. She previously served on the council for 16 years.
In Highland, all of the incumbents won re-election.
Amid all the bad blood in the Portage mayoral race, we have this from reporter Bob Kasarda: Tuesday's chilly rain helped bring at least a temporary truce in the bitter mayoral race in Portage.
Supporters of incumbent Democratic Mayor Olga Velazquez took pity on a supporter of Republican challenger James Snyder and allowed him to come in from the rain and join them under a canopy they had pitched in front of a polling place at the north county complex.
The young Snyder supporter was even allowed to bring along a sign for his candidate.
@Lisa: Karen Freeman-Wilson won easily. See the video above.
